Over the break, Jasmine stayed with Hibana and the Sparkle family at their home. Thanksgiving season passed, as well as the rest of the school year. Jasmine and Hibana only grew closer to each other as their fear of the student wishing for the professor's death grew. As time passed, a few other threats came, and as such, the two never let each other stray too far from each other when they were alone. The semester passed without incident, Hibana's GPA a solid 3.8 at the end of the semester. The time came for winter break. The two of them went back to Hibana's home, as Jasmine still had no home of her own. Since the sparkle house had no guest room, Jasmine found herself sleeping in Hibana's room. While her father didn't seem to mind, her mother was quite concerned. It was decades since Jasmine came out to Hibana's mom in high school, but she knew what she looked like when she was in love... Because she was Jasmine's first love. A few days before the return to the college, the elder Gardevoir found herself at home alone with Hibana's mother, who, like the Garde's kept her looks despite aging and evolving. The Ampharos, fearing for her daughter, knew this could be her only chance to be sure that Hibana was safe. Jasmine stepped out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel after having finished a shower. On her way to the bedroom, she noticed Hibana's mother sitting on a chair in the living room. "Miss Sapphire. Could you come here for a moment?" Jasmine nodded, walking over to her. "Suki, there's no need for such formality. I'm still the Jasmine you knew in high school." Making sure the towel still covered what needed to be covered, she sat next to her old friend. "Exactly, and that's what worries me. You're you. But my daughter isn't me." She seemed a bit in disbelief at what she was hearing. "Are you suggesting I'm using your daughter to live out some fantasy? I know she's not you. She's her, and I love that." "Jasmine... You know I've always liked you as a friend... But this situation is just... It seems unnatural." "Which part, exactly?" "Just, all of it. Hibana's young enough to be your daughter, and I mean that literally. Plus, there's the fact that both of you are girls..." "Suki! Are you saying you're uncomfortable with me being lesbian?" She stays silent a short moment, then sighs. "You have to understand where I come from. The fact you remained my friend after you came out in high school angered my parents. They thought you would turn me lesbian. I didn't think that to be true, but..." "But what?" "I know Hibana isn't a lesbian. Or at least, she didn't used to be. She had a boyfriend in middle school and again in 9th grade." "Suki. Maybe she was confused, like I was at that age. Or maybe she's bisexual. Have you actually asked her?" "Well... No... But, I..." She had no argument there. "I know your feelings towards what I am, and I respect them. But, I love your daughter. And she loves me. If you want to know the absolute truth, ask her yourself." She looked away for a moment. "Jasmine... I guess I have no choice but to trust you... I'm afraid of her answer, but I guess... I should know it now." "You always were an amazing friend Suki. And you still are." She stood up to hug her friend, the towel slipping slightly. She managed to catch it before anything was exposed. "I'll, go get dressed now." She quickly left the room. The elder Ampharos sat back in her chair and looked up at the ceiling. Imagining in her mind for a brief moment what she could have seen if her towel had slipped just a bit further. She shook her head of the thought and just mentally prayed for her daughter and for herself...
