Chapter 32 "Get out of the kitchen at once!" shouted one of the chefs as they threw pots at Rex. "I told you I was sorry for crashing through the roof into the kitchen," he replied. "And?" continued another chef not yet satisfied with his apology. "And I'm sorry that I broke my fall in your pot of soup," added Rex. "And!" shouted the chefs still not satisfied. They grabbed knives, preparing to throw them next. "And I'm sorry that I drank all the soup afterwards," he finished. "Are you going to kill me over that?" They answered by chucking knives at Rex. Reflexively, the small, blue, ninja-garbed Digimon dodged the blades. When they ran out of knives, the chefs threw anything in arm's reach from plates, to bags of seasoning, even any cooking appliances they had that weren't nailed to the ground. Using whatever he could use for cover, Rex sneaked his way to the door and slipped through it to safety, but getting through that unscathed made his feel cocky. "Ha! You missed!" bragged Rex as he opened the door to blow them all a raspberry. Instead, he got hit in the face with a raspberry pie. It slowly slid down his face and the tin and the remains of the pie clattered onto the floor. Wiping it from his face Rex looked at the chefs much less amused. "Needs more sugar." Then he closed the door and ran off. Dashing down the hall, Rex pondered what he should do first. He knew he had to find Angel, Dan, and Fonz, but now he also had to look for Jack and Flint. "Flint can take care of himself," he thought. "Jack, well I assume he is still in one piece." As he kept running he spotted the ninja in black he fought earlier, Shadow just standing waiting for him. "So one showed up earlier than I expected," Shadow stated. "But it only means you are running to your death." "Cheesy lines won't be enough to save you," shouted Rex and he charged at him. As he ran, he felt one of the square tiles he stepped on sink into the ground a bit followed by an explosion that sent him flying back in pain. "I don't need words when I have filled this entire area with deadly explosions," replied Shadow. "In fact, I don't have to move from this spot to defeat you?" "Is that a challenge?" asked Rex. "No, just a simple fact since there is no way that you can defeat me," explained Shadow. "Then if I can make you move from that spot then I win," declared Rex charging forward again recklessly. He triggered another explosion that knocked him into the wall that blew up as well. Everywhere he seemed to end up exploded as well in a surprisingly long and painful chain reaction. "I didn't expect that to work out so well," admitted Shadow as he noted Rex's smoldering body. "That didn't hurt at all?" grumbled Rex obviously lying as he struggled to get up, his ninja outfit in shambles and his body scorched from all the explosions. "Once I get to my feet I'm going to kick your butt." As he placed his hands on the ground to help get to his feet he once again triggered a floor panel. "Not again." "Are you always this stupid?" asked Shadow curiously. "You seemed a lot smarter the last time we met." "It varies from chapter to chapter," explained Rex, moments before he was caught up in another chain reaction. "Weird, I could just watch him explode for hours," thought Shadow as he continued watching Rex get pulverized. He felt a little disappointed when it ended again and he waited for the smoke to clear and see if he was still in one piece after all that. Once it did, he saw Rex was standing though his entire ninja outfit in shreds. The most surprising thing, however, was that he was now wearing his helmet her purchased at the store a few days ago. "Your evil deeds will not go unpunished," Rex said in a cool, heroic tone. "I will be the one to stop you." "What are you going on about?" asked Shadow becoming confused. "Why are you wearing a mask?" "This mask is a symbol of my destiny," he explained. "To fight evil and shield the light from curs like you. I am the hero of justice! I am the Masked Desperado and in the name of the moon I will punish you." "Now you're the one packing cheese," laughed Shadow unable to keep a straight face. "What kind of a hero is a desperado anyway and what's with that part about the moon? Steal that line word for word from someone else?" "Mock me all you want, but the truth will always shine through!" declared Rex. "Ready or not, here I come!" Mach 2: Vee Bounce Rex leapt forward with incredible power at Shadow. He landed on another booby trap, but before it went off this time he sprung away before the explosion went off. He leapt at another trap and once again he avoided it the second he set it off. Shadow watched his display again, amazed now that he was perfectly avoiding all his traps and getting dizzy just watching. Waiting for the right moment, he leapt at Shadow with all his might planning to head butt him with all his might. He was so close, but Shadow quickly recovered and side-stepped Rex. "Ha!" he gloated flying past Shadow. "I made you move. You lose!" "If you say so," Shadow replied as he watched Rex land on another trap and get caught in another explosion chain. He bounced around again in pain until he finally came to a stop. "I didn't think it was possible, but I think he set off every single trap I had in this room. I doubt he is alive after all that." Rex let out a furious roar as he burst out of the smoke with all his might. Shadow stumbled in surprise to see him alive and so lively after taking all that damage. He didn't have any time to do anything as Rex tackled him to the ground. "You might have your stupid explosions, but they don't compare to the powers of good and justice," snapped Rex. "Now behold my ultimate killing attack! The Ultimate Super Sure-Killer Head butt of Doom!" With all his might, Rex slammed his forehead into Shadow's. There was a pause for a moment while neither of them moved. Then slowly, Rex rose up smiling at victory. "I did it! I wo..." Before he could say anymore he fell backwards out cold. Shadow vanished in a poof of smoke and in his place was a rock about the same size as him. "That would have been the end of me if I didn't use a decoy since the start," stated Shadow as he walked out of the shadows to look at Rex, out cold from his own finishing attack. "Luckily, he failed to notice that wasn't me." As he approached Rex he turned to the rock and saw it crumble to pieces. "Such incredible power for a knucklehead. I should get rid of him now, but if he is here his other friends probably are too. Better to increase my number of hostages for now and eliminate them once they are all captured." Picking up Rex he carried him back to where Angel and Arthur were. "Please wake up," sobbed Angel managing to awaken Rex who was out cold on the ground. "Where am I?" groaned Rex as he opened his eyes and finally came to. He sat up holding his head that was throbbing painfully from the head butt. "Angel is that you?" "It is," she answered happily as she hugged him in her loving embrace. "When you were brought in here I thought you were killed. You don't know how happy I am to see you alive and well." "Of course," stated Rex. "I intentionally lost the fight knowing I would be brought here. Now that I am with you we can escape." "Oh, Rex you are so clever," she cheered. "I knew you would come together to rescue me. You are so brave and daring." "Liar," shouted Arthur. "You didn't plan this. You lost and just got lucky you weren't killed by my ninjas." "Who's the kid?" asked Rex. "Did they kidnap you to be a babysitter or something?" "No!" snapped Arthur. "I am Arthur, King of the Blue Moon Kingdom and soon to be married to her." "Married?" cried Rex. "But you look like you're five years old." "Eight and a half," corrected Arthur. "A squirt by any other age is still a squirt," argued Rex. "And a big meanie is just mean!" shouted Arthur running up to Rex and punching and kicking him with all his might. His efforts didn't amount to much as Rex didn't flinch a bit. "Please don't fight over me," pleaded Angel as if they were fighting to the death. "Don't worry," said Rex. "I won't hurt the little guy. There's nothing he can do to hurt me." Then Rex felt a sharp pain to his leg. When he looked down he saw it was Arthur biting down on him with all his might. "Ouch! Let go!" Hopping on one leg, Rex attempted to kick him off, but he clung on tight. Arthur just held on tighter and bit deeper. "I said let go!" With all his might Rex punched Arthur in the head, forcing him to let go in a daze. "Don't think I'm mature enough to not fight someone smaller and younger than me." "Oh," moaned Arthur as he was the one who now had the throbbing head. Slowly, tears welled up in his eyes and he began to cry. "Wah! He hit me!" "Well you bit me!" complained Rex. They both glared at one another angrily then turned away from one another with a pout on their faces. "Now, now you two," said Angel. "Let's try and get along now." "There won't be any need for that," replied Rex. "Because I'm getting you out of here right now." "And I already told you she's marrying me," replied Arthur. "We've been over this already," Angel told Arthur. "I am not going to marry you. I don't see why you are so insistent on doing that in the first place." "I have to marry you," he pleaded. "If I don't do it soon the Blue Moon Kingdom will be destroyed."
