Side notes to be clear: 1)Character does start human. 2)I refrain from too many details at the beginning because of point 1. 3)Key point! character doesn’t like how he is currently living or himself (looks, friends, athleticism, etc). 4)Furs will have major characteristics from their ancestors aka bull-rage birds-can fly canine-heightened senses. (not important too much yet but will come in later in the series) 5)In this furiverse, at the time furs are “discovered” in a way and not yet settled in; see Irish immigrants in New York 1820-1860 for the idea. I guess there is no easy way to get a do over in highschool, or even going into highschool. The two ways I see are moving or being unrememberable. Sadly for me I was in the same town for fourteen years and I decided to try and make more friends last year, unsuccessfully I might add. Maybe it was timing, maybe it was my looks, maybe this, maybe that, the only thing i know is it didn’t work and the people i tried to befriend “remember” me. So new year, new classes, new school, but still same old me, average me. After one day I managed to get a routine back but it was nice being back in a groove, and it seemed the same for everyone except for one girl. I shouldn’t really be saying girl because she was a fur, but at the new school they wanted to see how the groups got along, human and fur, due to furs only recently being discovered. She appeared to be raven using the dark features to her advantage with her deep purple focused wardrobe. It was the third day of school when i saw her, I think I may have seen her before but didn't notice her like this, she was calm at first and honestly the only reason I noticed her was because she had deep purple on and it was too summerish for others to wear it, I suppose, but anyways when I looked at her face she seemed worried nearly panicked and almost to prove it when everyone was going to class she randomly flew up and headed towards what looked like a side door for the theater. After that i saw similar “displays” over the short distance of grass where you can see from one hallway to another with the theater on the other side. After the first time its not hard to find her with her jet black fur or feathers and deep purple but with her smaller figure she can be difficult to spot in large crowds. Perhaps strangest of all is how almost no one noticed her or her display, when she is “arguing with herself”, as i came to call it, no one moves around her but rather her around everyone else. The only other thing that was concerning was she disappeared during lunches despite her very easily spotted traits. Flash Forward to the second week of school, after having some difficulties with a class I had, I went to counseling to change it. Counseling found the class I was looking for but thought it would be a problem due to it consisting of all furs. They had to ask me a series of questions concerning how I feel about furs and if it would be safe for me to be in the class. Once all that was settled I was able to start going to class, where I found her. She seemed almost surprised that I was in class with her, then again most of them were. Seeing it was the second week of the school year the teacher took it easy with a class building game, where we would say our name and our species. We ended up just doing the rows we where in, of the four other people in my row, there were: Lane the bull *write in the comments if you get this reference*, Iris the parrot, Babe the pig (not sure if nickname or cruel parents) and finally Nyem the raven. So her name was Nyem. Hard to say I would've expected that but it fits. After that our rows had to pick the most interesting one and say it to the class. I couldn't help but think Lane's was the most interesting due to its human origin, that and I couldn't help but think of him riding on a Sumo wrestler for eight seconds. The rest of them however thought that Nyem's name was more interesting. When she tried saying her name to the class however someone blurted out "Emo chick!" And they all started laughing. She seemed mad and upset but instead of doing anything about it she just said "tegfordnaevigrof". For some odd reason the entire class just stopped laughing abruptly and seemed to forget what they were laughing at. Pushing aside other thoughts I considered it as intimidation and left it at about altogether. As class was about to end the teacher decided to give us permanent partners for as long as we had the class. It seemed the teacher didn't think about the pairs because everyone was an ironic pair. Lane had to deal with a red coated fox… red furred fox… red fox… whatever the proper term is, Iris, who talked so much, had to deal with a bat, who heard everything, and Babe had to deal with a tiger who loved, hopefully non-anthro, ham. My partner wasn't as ironic but she was still strange, I had Nyem, not as bad as some I guess. Teacher ,being lazy, told us to get to know our partner, instead of teaching for the last twenty minutes of class. "So...uh What was that thing about?" "What thing?" "You know… After the guy said Emo girl." "You remember that?!?" Panic had swept across her face for some reason or another. "It happened ten minutes ago, how couldn't I?" "Uh... Umm, it's sort of hard to explain, at least in a way that won't scare you too much." She seemed less worried but definitely more concerned, I felt like she was trying to examine me like a doctor would. "Try me." "I'm going to need to try something else first. The problem is its not easy to test here." "Umm... Test? Also, what would be an easy place to 'test'?" "The theater, I have everything I need in there and I'll answer the other question when we get there." "When can we do that?" "Right now. Ezeerf." Whatever she did made the room go silent and everyone to stop what they're doing... And stop moving. "Ok then, I'm not going to ask." "Oh come on... That one too." She seemed to be doing part of the test here but I wasn't sure if I was passing or failing. "Ok let's go." It wasn't a very long walk however it was still strange, silent as possible the only sound coming from our feet somehow. When we got inside she said something like 'odnu' and then like magic I heard voices coming from outside by two students passing by. "Can you explain this before or after?" "I might as well tell you seeing as nothing I do works on you. You see I come from a special species of furs where I retain some, lets call them powers, from what you would consider a witch because of this I am able to do what you saw with the class. Unfortunately most powers don't work when used on someone with stronger blood than your own." "So what you're saying is that I am more of a wizard than you are a witch, right?" "Sort of, the fur that had the 'pure' blood died long ago, which leads me to question how did you get into the bloodline?" "I don't know, in fact until 10 seconds ago I didn't realize I had powers like this, err... Like yours." "Yeah like mine. Hold on that gives me an idea! Quick say this." She scribbled out some weird word that I assumed was a way to use my power. "Ok... Em...emlaer...eht" other than a sense of light headedness and a faint glow of green everywhere I look, nothing appeared to have happened."What was that suppose to do?" Instead of answering, she just handed me a mirror, that she had readied while I was talking, and what I saw shocked me. There stood one fairly skinny raven with feathers only a few shades lighter than black and the same clothes I was wearing. "Mind telling me what I just did." "You did... Well, it. You managed to correctly cast a spell, one that shows the real you."
