Pumbaa's Special Power Today was turning out great for Pumbaa and his new friend Timon. The long journey they had been on looked like it was finally coming to an end as they eyed Timon's dream home in the distance. This was the happiest Pumbaa had seen Timon since they'd met and seeing the meerkat's good mood made him smile. He couldn't wait to get Timon settled and do all sorts of fun things together. However, Pumbaa was so focused on the happy days ahead, that he failed to notice the large gathering of animals until he saw large pairs of legs. "Uh...I don't do so well in crowds." Pumbaa said in a panic. the tuft of his tail immidiately covered the hole beneath it as he slowly started backing away. "Maybe we better go arournd." "Don't you know the shortest distance between me and my dream home is a straight line?" Timon said in his usual quick wit and confident tone. He didn't even give Pumbaa time to answer before he grabbed the warthog by the tusk and added. "Follow me." To say Pumbaa was nervous, would've been an understatement. He knew he was the last pig that should be around so many animals this closed together, but he still followed Timon. After all, friends supported each other right? He only hoped that his backside would stay quiet until They got out in the open again. But, that was easier said then done, especially with all the looks the other animals were giving him. Those disapproving eyes were making Pumbaa even more nervous and in the back of his head he knew something had to give. *GGGGGGRRRRRRRLLLLL* Pumbaa's ears and tail shot up as he froze at the all too familiar sound coming from his tummy. After a moment Pumbaa slammed his butt on the ground before anything bad could come out. That bubble in his tummy was gonna come out and it was gonna be big. Pumbaa knew in that moment, he needed to get Timon and his nose as far away as possible. "A-Ahem, Timon! There's something I gotta tell ya." Pumbaa called to his friend in a pleading voice. "Pumbaa, Pumbaa, Pumbaa." Timon said, shaking his head as he walked toward his warthog buddy. "We'll have plenty of time to chat once we settle in." Timon grabbed Pumbaa's tusk and once again pulled him forward. *GGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRLL* "I-I could really use a rest stop!" Pumbaa shouted the last words, half-talking to his tummy as well as Timon. He also turned to leave, figuring that he could at least make a run for it since Timon was commited to moving through the crowd. But Pumbaa barely moved away before he was grabbed by Timon again. "Don't worry, you'll get your second wind." Timon said. The meerkat didn't realize how ironic it was that he used the word 'wind' in this situation. "Ooh! I got a really bad feeling!" Pumbaa said. The warthog was full on sweating as the gurgles in his tummy were near constant now. Pumbaa even had to keep his hooves together in a desperate attempt to hold it in. But he still knew he had to get out of there, so the warthog resorted to hopping away. However, in his haste Pumbaa failed to notice that Timon had grabbed his tail and gave it a strong tug...that was all it took. Pumbaa's eyes grew wide in a mix of panic and embarrassment as he heard the deep, bassy, tuba-like sound that admitted from his tailhole. The only sound stronger was that of an elephant who trumpetted in shock. Coughs could also be heard as several animals fell unconscious from the awful smell, but Pumbaa was more concerned about Timon. The meerkat was right behind him when Pumbaa released such a massive air rip. He had done it. He actually farted on his best friend. Or perhaps former best friend was a more fitting term. Since Timon had somehow stayed awake through the whole ordeal, Pumbaa was sure the meerkat wouldn't want to have anything to do with him now. Pumbaa heard the sizzle of the small flame on top of Timon's head as he waited for the meerkat to give him a tongue lashing. "So I guess that's your Special Power, huh? What a weapon!" Timon said with a smile. "You mean, you don't mind?" Pumbaa said in surprise and confusion. "Ha ha, Are you kidding? It was a gas." Timon said and proceeded to laugh off the ridiculousness of what just happened. "Well I don't mean to toot my own horn-." Pumbaa tried to join in the good humor. "Yeah, that's probably for the best." Timon joked, letting the moment sit before adding. "Let's go, Pumbaa." "Lead the way!" Pumbaa said. This was now officially the best day ever. Sure, he had knocked out a heard of animals, but Timon's reaction oddly made him feel proud about it. The meerkat had now seen Pumbaa at his worst and not only did he like it, but he accepted the warthog without a second thought. Timon was a true friend and Pumbaa couldn't be happier about it.
