-What is it that you keep looking at through that thing? I asked shyly, not really expecting an answer once more. -It’s a telescope. He answered like every time, words without any meaning to me. He spent all his time looking through the tube, always looking amazed or confused, like a whole movie of emotions playing right in front of my eyes. -And what do you see? Planets, stars, little bright dots in the night sky as usual. His answer was always one of those. He would name a planet and start talking about it, he could go on for hours and hours without ever tiring. -I’m looking at life. He said to my dumbfounded face. Life? It was not of him to make jokes… Looking at my confused expression he beckoned me closer, pulled me up and lifted me, sitting me on his neck so I could take a peek through the glass… It was an everlasting vast array of lights, an explosion of colors. -Say darling, what is it that you see? Chaos? Color? Harmony? Many of those and many many more I’m sure. What I see there, all those complicated actions, its dispersion, isn’t it like looking at the emotions of people? Chaotic, yet always in a certain order, all contained in a bit of space, where it mixes and interacts with more clouds of stars that surround it. It’s a huge mess, a complete chaos, yet every single one of those dots of light is a star, with a name, with a purpose, with its own gravity. It all makes a huge ecosystem. And now tell me, what is the difference between those stars and the minds of people that walk around us? It is the same life as down here, just… more beautiful. To think that father would have such a deep understanding of emotions, when he never speaks of his own. I felt glad to share that moment with him, to finally understand a little bit of his universe.
