"Beautiful..." A young female adult overlooks the city's bright and colour-filled lights through her bedside window. Since her house was in the middle of the Emerald Valley, this human who was named Lilly, was surrounded by a forest but from here she had a good view of Station Square's skyscrapers. Lilly sighed as she gazed over to a couple holding hands with their young daughter. The little girl was giggling and swinging back and forth with her mother and father's hands. As they walked past the little girl stopped and smiled at Lilly. She waved in her direction and giggled, causing Lilly to smile and wave back before watching the trio walk away. Once the trio was gone Lilly got up from her windowside couch and headed to the kitchen for a before-bed snack. She opened the fridge and took out a soda and some cookies that she had put in there the night before. She shrugged slightly as she had difficulty finding anything else worth eating and took them out of the refrigerator before heading over to her couch to sit down. "This'll do." --------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile near Lilly's house, a mysterious figure panted as they ran, pushing through the trees within the forested area. The figure soon came to a halt at a wooden bench before looking up to see Lilly's house above it. The figure then pulled off the hood of their cloak that they were wearing and sadly looked down at the basket. "This is it..." A tiny crying sound could be heard from the basket in question and the figure who turned out to be a young female mobian gently removed the blanket from the top of the basket and smiled down at the little creature inside it. The little creature opened its eyes and looked up at the mobian, whimpering softly. "Hush, my darling..." The mobian gently stroked the child's cheek with her finger and bent down before giving her child a kiss on the cheek. The baby mobian weakly wrapped his tiny fingers around his mother's finger. The mother gritted her teeth, trying to hold back her tears as she knew what had to be done. She looked around before gently placing the basket in front of Lilly's house. The mobian then closed her eyes and turned away, not wanting the child to sense her despair. Before she walked away, however, the child suddenly let out a small sob and held its hands up. The mother walked back and kneeled down before holding onto the infant's hands. She smiled softly and nuzzled her child's cheek before speaking to him one last time. "My precious angel... I know you'll grow up to be a hero one day. Keep safe and be brave for me... mommy has to go. I know you'll make me proud... Sonic The Hedgehog." The adult mobian rose to her feet and knocked gently on the door before sniffling and running off into the distance. The little mobian clenched his tiny fists and closed his eyes. He then began to shiver from the cold and cried out, loudly, for his mother. "Huh?" Lilly stood up from the couch she was sat on and walked towards the front door after hearing the knock. She opened the door and peeked outside before looking to the left, followed by the right. "There's no-one... here?" Lilly looked around for a little while longer and shrugged, turning around and about to head back inside. Before she did so, however, Sonic cried much louder and kicked his legs, still trying to call out for his mother. Lilly gasped as she heard the sound and looked down at the source of the noise. She kneeled down and noticed a small blanket being kicked around from inside the basket and cautiously moved her hand to it. "A... baby?" Lilly soon gripped the blanket and slowly pulled it back, revealing a small hedgehoglet. He was shivering and crying out continuously. His cheeks were also now wet from crying so much and his ears were pinned back against his head. Lilly looked down at the tiny creature with a sympathetic expression and gently touched his cheek with her hand before speaking to him in a soothing tone. "It's ok, little one. I'm sure your mother is around here somewhere..." As Sonic began to calm down slightly, Lilly looked around and foccused on her hearing but she could not see or hear anything or anyone around them. "It... it can't be... t-there's no way that the mother would have left her baby here... unless..." Lilly foccused her attention back to the little mobian as she thought about the current situation. She closed her eyes and sighed softly, shaking her head. "You poor little creature..." Sonic continued to shiver and soon opened his eyes, staring up at Lilly with a fearful expression. Lilly raised an eyebrow then carefully lifted the basket before bringing it inside the house and placing it down onto her couch. "I think it's best if I take you in for now, little one... just until your mother comes back to find you..." Lilly nodded her head to the little hedgehoglet before walking back over to the front door and soon locked it behind her. As she walked to the door, however, the little hedgehoglet frustratedly began to kick his feet, hitting the side of the basket with each kick. Lilly gasped from this sudden action and ran back to the infant. She then kneeled down to his level and saw a pair of emerald-coloured eyes staring up at her. Lilly smiled softly from the little hedgehoglet's eyes and gently lifted him out of the basket before gently placing him onto her shoulder. Sonic whimpered and desperately held onto Lilly's shoulder with his tiny paws. Lilly proceeded to sit down on the couch and gently rubbed his back with her hand in an attempt to comfort him. "Shhh, don't be afraid. I promise I won't hurt you..." Sonic soon began to whine and nuzzled his head into Lilly's shoulder before gently lowering his head and holding onto her chest. He then began to scratch slightly at Lilly's chest, in an attempt to nurse off her. Lilly gasped and blushed from this action, looking down at the little creature in confusion. "What are you...?" Sonic whined and lowered his ears as he was unsuccessful in his efforts to desperately try to find some milk. Lilly smiled softly and gently rubbed his back as she stood up from the couch. "I think I understand... you're hungry, aren't you?" Sonic whined slightly and the young human began to walk over to the kitchen. As she approached the area, she removed Sonic from her chest and laid him onto a small cushion on her kitchen chair so she could keep an eye on him. The little hedgehog looked up at Lilly and clenched his fists. He then kicked his feet and whimpered before letting out a loud and forceful cry. Lilly turned to him and started to rush around the kitchen, looking inside cupboards and drawers for a small container. She soon comes across a small bottle and looked at it closely before smiling. "This'll do just fine for now. Don't worry little one, dinner's coming!" As Sonic continued to whine in hunger, Lilly looked on her bookshelf and came across a small book named "Mobian Studies". (Lilly was a Mobian researcher, therefore she had access to many books and theory papers on the species) Satisfied with her book choice, Lilly placed it onto the kitchen table and flicked through the pages. Inside this book contained many pieces of information about the various rare creatures within the mobian species. "Hmm... Mobian reptiles, amphibians..." After a few seconds of flicking through pages, she soon stopped as she found what she was looking for. "Ah, here we go... mobian mammals." Lilly then leaned the open page spread on a small table next to the chair that Sonic was laid on and smiled down at him. The picture shown inside the book was of a baby mobian hedgehog, with two adult mobians stood either side of it. "Well, I'll be... I never would have suspected that you were a mobian hedgehog. I mean, you look very different to the hedgehogs we have here on Earth." Sonic whimpered slightly from his hunger and coughed a bit from crying so much. Lilly gently rubbed his ear in an attempt to comfort him and read the open page spread. "Shh, I just need to make sure that this will be ok for you to drink. Lets see... ah, here we go. Baby hedgehogs need warm human-based milk if the mother is unable to feed her young." Lilly turned to the refrigerator and took out a carton of milk. "Here we go!" Sonic soon stopped crying and started to wriggle around on the cushion, impatiently. He then looked down and reached out for his foot. He was then able to grab it and attempted to chew on it. Lilly looked back and giggled from the display as she began to make up a bottle. "Silly baby... I'm sure that your foot won't taste very nice!" As Sonic continued to attempt chewing on his foot, Lilly filled the bottle with milk and placed it into the microwave, heating it up. Once the milk had finished warming up, Lilly tested it before gently picking Sonic up and holding him in her arms. She then placed the tip of the bottle against Sonic's lips and slowly tipped it back in order to allow him to drink. Once the little hedgehog had realised that his milk was ready, he gripped onto the bottle with his tiny paws and started to drink at an amazing speed! Lilly gasped a little before gently pulling the bottle away from him slightly. "Whoa! Slow down there, cutie... we don't want you to get sick." Little Sonic whined from this but soon began to slow down and closed his eyes, allowing himself to relax from the taste of the warm milk. Lilly gently held him close to her chest as he drank. This was done so that Sonic thought that he was drinking from his mother, an instinct that he still had. As Sonic was close to finishing the milk, he pushed the bottle away and whined. Lilly smiled and giggled a bit, knowing that he was full. She took the bottle out of his mouth and placed it on the table next to her before gently beginning to pat the hedgehoglet's back. After a few seconds, Sonic whimpered in discomfort but soon let out a tiny burp. "Hehe, good job~!" After burping Sonic a few more times, Lilly held him comfortably and lifted him so that his eye level was at hers. She gave the little mobian a curious expression as she took a closer look at him. Sonic kicked his feet as he too began to give Lilly a curious expression. Lilly giggled and smiled warmly as she noticed his big eyes looking at her with a mixture of confusion and a bit of a pout. "You certainly are a beautiful mobian... but I don't know much about you." Sonic let out a small cooing sound as he looked over at the basket he came from, which was across the room from them. Lilly carried Sonic over to the basket and pulled some of the blankets out of the way. A piece of paper soon draws her attention and she picked it up, beginning to read through it. "To Whoever finds my child, I apologise for giving such a big favour to you unexpectedly but I have to escape to my world and defend my home. It will be too dangerous to take my child with me, I hope you understand. I hope that my child, Sonic Maurice Hedgehog, will one day become a great hero much like his father before him. Please take good care of my angel. Yours Sincerely, Bernadette." "Your name's Sonic, eh?" Sonic cooed as if to say 'yes' and sucked on his thumb as he reached out to the piece of paper, attempting to grab it. Lilly giggled and placed the piece of paper back into the basket before rubbing her nose against Sonic's. "Ah, ah, ah, Sonic... you might end up eating that paper~" A little smile soon appeared on the little mobian's face, which caused Lilly to let out a small squealing sound. "I didn't realise that you could smile at such a young age... how adorable~! And your eyes... oh, they are just beautiful... yes they are, yes they are~" Sonic continued to smile as Lilly began baby-talking him but the smile on his face soon turned to a slight frown as his eyes soon motioned down to his diaper. He lowered his ears and made a somewhat guilty expression. Lilly soon followed his eyes and noticed a little wet spot on the front of his diaper. She smiled a bit and let out a small giggle. "I had a feeling this would happen sooner or later..." Lilly gently held the little mobian against her chest and picked up the small Mobian Studies book before walking upstairs and into her bedroom. She laid down a spare blanket onto her bed and gently placed Sonic on top of it. The little hedgie soon held onto his foot as he attempted to, once again, chew on it. "Aww, I know you like doing that, Sonic... but it won't be easy for me to change you, you know~" Sonic soon placed his foot back onto the blanket and looked down at his diaper before looking up at Lilly. Lilly giggled from the silly behaviour of the hedgie and untaped his diaper before putting it into a plastic bag. She then looked through her bedside cabinet and came across some wipes. After she cleaned him up, Sonic, once again, smiled and kicked his feet again until Lilly puts the wipe in the bag too. "You are so precious, Sonic~! Yes you are~!" Sonic let out small squealing sounds as Lilly began to tickle his belly. The young human giggled and soon stopped tickling him. She then thought to herself before looking back into the research book which she had brought up with her. After flicking through some more pages, Lilly soon comes across one labelled as "Gender Recognition". After inspecting the page of the book a little further she looks down at the little hedgie and puts a finger on her chin. "Hmm, I wonder..." The little hedgehoglet looked up at her with a confused expression. After looking at the book Lilly gently opened Sonic's legs a little and peeked down. Sonic whined and wriggled around as he didn't like the position he was in. "Sorry little one, I just need to check something..." Lilly inspected for a bit longer before Sonic started to whimper. A small smile soon appeared on Lilly's face as she let go of his legs. "Just as I thought... you most certainly are a boy!" The little hedgie pouted a little and continued to wriggle around on his back. "My, my, you are impatient, aren't you~? I'm sorry if I embarrassed you by the way, Sonic. I just wanted to check... better to be safe than sorry, eh?" Lilly giggled a bit and soon picked up a small blanket from her bedside cabinet. She inspected it and pouted slightly. "Well, it's no diaper but it'll do for now, I suppose..." Lilly was about to wrap the blanket around Sonic but she soon stopped, noticing that the little hedgie was wriggling around, uncomfortably. The little mobian whimpered as he attempted to squeeze his legs together a bit. "Hm? What's wrong, Soni-- oh, wait! You must need to...?" The little mobian cried out, desperately, which gave Lilly the hint that he needed to relieve himself. She gently scooped up Sonic into her arms and took him to the bathroom before holding him over the toilet. The little hedgie looked down to see water below him and let out a small whimper, in fear that he would fall into it. Lilly could sense his fear and smiled softly at him as she spoke in a soothing tone. "Don't worry Sonic, I promise I won't drop you." The little hedgehoglet blinked and closed his eyes, feeling the "call of nature" about to be answered. He whined slightly but after a short delay, nature finally took its course. Sonic curiously looked down at the water, below him, watching in confusion as it began to turn yellow. Lilly giggled from his curious nature and looked down at the little hedgehog as he turned to face her. Lilly held him still and soon enough Sonic was fully relieved and he smiled back at Lilly. "Good boy~!" Lilly cleaned up the little hedgie but soon let out a small gasp as she flushed the toilet, which caused Sonic to start crying and hold onto her shoulder. "Aww its ok Sonic, it won't hurt you..." Lilly kissed Sonic's muzzle and laid him back onto the mat before wrapping the blanket around him and tying it up like a diaper. The little mobian sucked his thumb and looked up at Lilly with a puzzled expression. Lilly smiled and walked over to her cupboard, looking through a box of some baby clothes that once belonged to her. Lilly picked out a little red baby suit which once belonged to her brother and inspected it before looking down at Sonic. "I hope this fits..." The hedgehoglet cooed curiously as Lilly dressed him in the little suit. Once he was dressed, Lilly smiled and picked up the little hedgehog before placing him onto her shoulder. Sonic clinged onto her and Lilly gently rubbed his back, sensing that he was beginning to feel a bit tired. Sure enough, the little hedgie soon let out a small yawn and rubbed his eyes. "Aww, someone's a sleepy hog, eh~?" Sonic looked up at Lilly with an exhausted expression before slowly beginning to close his eyes. She walked over to the small basket and carried it up the stairs before placing it onto the floor of her bedroom. She then proceeded to gently lay Sonic into it before covering him with a clean blanket. Sonic let out another small yawn and snuggled into the blanket. Lilly makes sure that he is comfortable before placing a gentle kiss onto his muzzle. As Sonic finally gave up on his attempt to stay awake, he slowly closed his eyes and let out a small sighing sound, which caused Lilly to giggle a bit. The young human turned to the little hedgie and smiled as she turned off the bedroom light and left the door slightly open, offering a bit of light to comfort Sonic to sleep in. "Good night, Sonic..."
