BIT Squad - Beyond the 4th Wall Episode 16 - Transportation Demonstration 2BIT & BIT Squad belong to... 2BIT. GeneX & related characters belong to 2BIT. Sonic the Hedgehog & related characters belong to SEGA. Other characters belong to their respective owners. "Hello! By now you all must be wondering how we keep traveling between Byte Space and various worlds, right? Well, today I decided to answer that question!" 2BIT says, seemingly looking RIGHT AT YOU. He's in what appears to be a game room, a large monitor on the wall with hundreds of cartridges on the shelves around him. There's a device under the monitor with a slot, it looks kind of like an old game console. "To help demonstrate how this works, I have here the manifestation of my memory, 64BIT. We call him Blocky..." 2BIT said as another fox stepped over to him...or...was it a fox? Blocky looked like 2BIT very much, but in a strange, polygonal form. Almost as though he actually WAS a 64-bit render of 2BIT himself. "Very funny, call me Blocky. You know I won't forget that, either. Just like I remember where every single musical note is in Banjo-Kazooie! Anyway, nice to be talked to for a change. You stuck me in this room and never let me go on adventures!" Blocky complained. 2BIT chuckled softly. "Someone has to operate the portal to other worlds! So, uh... Let's say we wanna go to the Nightmare Zone for some reason." he suggested. Probably because it's around Halloween. Blocky tried to nod, but it looked awkward with his polygonal build. "I remember where that cartridge is... I remember..." he said, looking around the wall. 2BIT scratched his head. "Eh? No, the worlds are not contained in these cartridges! They contain the coordinates for each worlds' location in the multiverse! Ha! What an imagination you got!" You didn't ask him that but he really seems to be talking to you. "Alright! Here it is!" Blocky said, holding out a cartridge for 2BIT. "Ah, yes... We keep calling it the Nightmare Zone but the label actually reads 'GeneX Necros.' See?" he said, showing it off. It oddly resembled Banjo-Kazooie's boxart, with Tabitha in place of Gruntilda, Sonic in place of Banjo and Heather behind him in place of Kazooie. Sonic is holding the "3000 Dos and Don'ts of Scary Scenarios" book instead of a Jinjo. The rating was H for Horror. Why there's a rating system on the world cartridges we'll never know. "Alright, well, we're not going there for obvious reasons but why not prep the portal device just to demonstrate?" 2BIT suggested. "Yes, masssster!" Blocky sarcastically said like Igor from Frankenstein. He slipped the cartridge into the slot and flipped a couple switches, causing the monitor to flicker on, displaying the Nightmare Zone castle. "We can play with these switches to determine where the portal will drop whoever goes through it... Like so..." Blocky said, changing it to display a graveyard, and then the Master Emerald shrine. 2BIT nodded. "Okay. Turn it off." he ordered. Blocky grunted softly. "No way! This is my chance for ADVENTURE!!" he shouted, leaping at the screen, and suddenly slipping through it, emerging on the other side on Angel Island and at the steps of the Master Emerald shrine!! 2BIT gasped in alarm. "You dummy! GeneX Necros isn't safe in October!! How do I drag him back!?!?" he shouted, looking at the switches on the device in a panic. "Does this mean the demonstration is over?" asked Cupie. "Why were you showing us like we didn't know?" Dusk grumbled. "I didn't know this stuff!" Gator babbled. Seemed like 2BIT wasn't talking to you after all. You must feel so left out all of a sudden. While 2BIT was panicking, Zed the zebra, 24BIT, stepped over and took a look. "Why don't we tie someone off to a rope, send them in to grab Blocky, and pull back on the rope once we've grabbed him?" he asked. "Because the portal only goes one-way unless this device calls us back!" 2BIT gulped. "That's dumb." Vixy murmured. "No, it's not! It keeps the flies out of here!!" 2BIT snapped. Suddenly, they heard Gator's voice through the screen. "Excuse me, Blocky! 2BIT wants to know how we call you back?" They looked around. No one saw Gator go into the screen, but sure enough he was gone. "Can he teleport through dimensions? Coooool..." Cupie murmured. They watched the screen. "Isn't it obvious? If there's ever any trouble, just press... GATOR WATCH OUT!!" Blocky shouted. Gator turned and screamed as clawed hands grabbed him and pulled him offscreen! "Wait! Stop!! I don't taste good!! Yaaaaaaa why do I keep coming back here!?!?" he wailed as horrible snarling was heard. The squad watched in abject horror, and Block cried out "PRESS THE RED BUTTON YOU IDIOTS!!" 2BIT hastily pressed it, and Blocky was suddenly sucked back through the portal! Gator was ejected through it as well, covered in slimy monster drool. "You don't pay me enough..." he whined. Blocky shivered, standing in the corner. "I...never forget... From now on, I stay right here..." he stammered. 2BIT ejected the cartridge and smiled as the monitor turned off. "Alright! All's well that ends well then!" he said awkwardly. "Hey, why exactly DO we leave GeneX Necros all scary and horrific if we're supposed to protect the multiverse?" Dusk asked. "Some hogwash about balance between darkness and light. Don't overthink every little thing..." 2BIT muttered as the squad filed out of the transport room. Blocky remained, shivering and blinking... He will NEVER forget what he saw.... The End...and Happy Halloween!
