Planetside 2 Story Part 10 Chapter 1: Vacation on Hold As soon as the bullets started flying, I dove behind the nearest solid object: the ship that was currently under construction in this hanger. I have no idea what has gotten into that Riptide dude, but I suppose the expedition plans are gonna be on hold for a bit. Right now, the New Republic had to flee. As I was trying to collect my thoughts between all the bullets, the comlink on my robotic arm crackled to life. “Commander, Jet, you there?” I heard Black’s voice though sounds of his own gunfire problems. “Black, I’m okay, but the Earthbound forces just opened fire in hangar bay 4” I replied, loading my Commissioner. “The same is happening in the other bays, I’m trapped in bay 10. Thankfully, the Locust is one of the military transports, so some of us managed to get armed.” Black explained. “Any communication from the other bays?” I asked, peaking around my cover and popping some shots off. “Mich is bay 3, Axx just escaped bay 1 with a small squad. No word from Arrow or Frost.” Black replied. “Blast… okay, what Republic ships are space ready?” Cause the Kingstar is only a hull right now.” I looked around for an exit. “The Locust is just missing the caro, we could escape in this one. The hanger Mish is stuck in has been ready for a couple weeks.” Black replied. “Okay, tell Axx to meet with Mich and leave the planet, I’ll cheek on the other hangers and get Frost and Arrow and come to you.” I explained. “Alright, we should able to hold our own.” Black ended the transmission. I looked to my right, and saw some engineers cowering in the corner, I waved them over to me and provided enough covering fire for them to reach. “What the hell are we gonna do?” One of them asked, sweeting deeply. I looked through the bodies and broken machinery to see a Mana Turret deployable… unseing a nearby metal pole, I reached over and pulled it towards me. “Alright… alright… here’s the deal… one of you take my revolver, I’ll deploy the turrets and cover you're escape though the rear door, when you're clear, you can cover me.” I explained. “Why aren't they dead yet!!!” I heard Riptide scream. “Someone, get me a grenade!!!” He added. “Fuck! Okay, which one of you is the better shot?” I asked. “I’ve had some experience before…” The 2nd engineer perked up. I gave him my side arm. “On my go, run…” I said, they nodded. I laid down the deployable, and soon a Anti-Infantry turret constructed, the bright red shield flashing soon after. “What the?” one of the Earthbound soldier's tilted his head, causing the rest to stop firing. “Why did you all stop!!??” Riptide shouted. “NOW!” I jumped on the gun, and let it rip, mowing down a whole row of my now enemies. The Engineers made a brake for it as the air lit up again. Riptide ran for the door, but before I could take aim at him, the turret overheated… typical. I angled the shield to cover me as the gun cooled down… but before I could open fire again, a sliver NS bullet whizzed past my head and nailed a Earthbound soldier in the eye. I looked back to see the engi with my gun peaking in the door. “Come on, hurry, before they get their shit together!” He shouted. I nodded and ran for it, siding though the door just as a grenade landed behind the turret. I slammed it shut and heard a loud BANG, followed by the clattering of metal as shrapnel filled the hanger. “Well, now what?” The engineer with my gun handed it back to me. “That was just stage one, for now, you guys gotta head over to Hanger 10, the NR has a military stockpile their along with the Locust.” I explained. “What about you?” The 1st engi asked. “I gotta help the other officer’s, now, get to Hanger 10, that’s an order!” I shouted. The two nodded and ran off. After I found an ally to hide in, I got back on comms. “Black, I got the survivors from Hanger 4 heading your way.” I reported. “Alright, I just got word from Arrow and Frost, they are held up in bay 20.” Black explained. “The Max bay?” I asked. “Yep, they really have a wall of old NC scat maxes blocking the hanger doors.” Black replied. “Tell them to get their asses over to you then!!!” I almost yelled. “Alright, alright, but they sounded like they were having fun” Black laughed. Rolling my eyes, I ended the transmission. Before I could head off, my phone of all things started to ring. When I looked at it, it was chief Kinson of all people. “Huh, hello?” I asked in a slightly annoyed voice. “Ah, commander, you are still alive.” His voice sounded relieved. “Barely… say, you have any idea why the hell Earth’s military would suddenly open fire on Republic forces?” I asked. “No clue… is it about the thugs?” Kinson offered. “Yeah, said the Republic didn't stand up for the city or something.” I replied. “That’s insane! New Haven Police have been clearing them out for months now, only small pockets now remain.” Kinson sounded offended. “Not in General Riptide’s eyes…” I scoffed. “Well, I for one am deeply offended… never like those military types, never thinking of the greater community.” Kinson commented. “They’ve always been like this?” I asked. “Ever since the Republic got back, yeah.” “Interesting….” I rubbed my chin. “What’s on you're mind, commander?” Kin son suddenly sounded intrigued. “Oh, nothing.” I set my theories aside. “Say, is their anything you need help with?” Kinson asked. “Well, the New Republic need some help escaping…” “Say no more!” The Chief’s voice suddenly spiked. “I’ll have every available Swat team and Helicopter down their ASAP!” He added. “Wouldn't that put you under the military's radar too?” I pointed out. “To hell with it, if the government is gonna go behind the people’s back and attack you're people, I stand with you!” He sounded almost patriotic. “Well, if you insist, meet my people at hangar bay 10 at the space dock.” I explained, and hung up. Smiling to myself, I made a mad dash to Hanger 10. Chapter 2: The Spark of Another Great War? By the time I got to the Hanger, Frost and Arrow already had the Max’s setup on the main doors. I entered through the back, where Black, Mish, and Axx were already trying to get the Loucast primed. “Commander, their you are.” Axx perked up as I entered. The sounds of bullets bouncing off the haner and the scat Max’s fighting off the horde echoing through the whole hanger. “This was quite the turn of events.. I’ve noticed the Thugs are taking advantage of the chaos as well, I got jumped by five of them on my way over here.” I scoffed, checking my ammo. “Well, now you're here, we can finally take off.” Mich walked up, handing me a Gauss Rifle. “That’s all we have?” I asked. “All our weapons were destroyed when the bullets started flying, only a box of NC Assault Rifles survived.” Mich explained. I sighed. “Oh, before we go, we might have reinforcements on the way…” I said. “What?” Frost looked up… then we heard the helicopters, and soon, the gunfire stopped. Soon a massive speaker started shouting. “This is Captain Samuel Von Hizenbar of the New Haven Swat force, and in lue of the recent civil emergency, all Earthbound forces have hereby been terminated from acting within City limits, and cut from the Republican mission to the Wormhole.” A heavy German accent blared. “By the power of Bylaw 12, Subsection 15 of the City Independence Act, Mayor Julian Hernandez have requested all Earthbound Military forces to leave the New Haven Government to handle this ourselves. All Police and new Republican soldiers have been given full authority to use lethal force if necessary.” He added. “What bullshit is this?” One of the Earthbound forces declared. “Hey, we have our rights, boy! You have 10 minutes to leave the city.” The Swat Captain replied. “Bah, there's no point in fighting now… but mark our words, we’ll be back.” Riptide spat. By the time dusk came, all Earthbound forces have left new Haven… where they went, I have no idea. Regardless, most of the Swat forces also returned back to their HQ, but the Captain's helicopter stayed around, and even landed near the spaceport to come can have a little chat. “I don’t know what you did, but you really pissed them off…” Hizenbar almost laughed as he approached. “Funny thing is, neither do we.” Black admitted. “The just got really offended at us and just opened fire…” Mich scoffed. “It was a sudden shower of blood.” I sighed… “Well, regardless, the Mayor has requested to see the Commander… which one are you?” Hizenbar tilted his head. “That would be me… and I’m not surprised” I stepped forward. “Very well, I’m sure you know where City Hall is, let’s hope we can figure this whole problem out.” Hizenbar got back in his chopper and flew off. I sighed. “Alright, you guys get this mess cleaned up.” I ordered, getting into the nearest New Republican supply truck and driving off. Chapter 3: Noticed By The Prez Upon arriving at city all, I noticed security has already been doubled. Burly security guards with fully auto rifles patrolled and stood around the property. As I approached the doors, the guards were eyeing me... but I made it to the Mayor's office without getting tackled or stopped by andy of them. It took a couple minutes, but sooner or later, I was allowed to speak with him. “Commander… let’s get right down to business.” The Mayor motioned me to have a set. “I’m sure you're aware of the civil emergency laid down, yes?” He asked. “Well, considering I Was in the middle of it when the bullets started flying.” I crossed my arms. “Indeed… how, I got the report from the Swat force, the military did leave… but I suspect this is bigger than I imagined it…” The Mayor rubbed his chin. “How so? I raised an eyebrow. “Well, Keldor, one of the other nearby cities, have always been on rough terms with New Haven… splitting resources, expanding territory, economics and trade, etc. And ever since you're army started building those space toys, it seems things are just getting worse.” The Mayor explained. “Where are you going with this?” I asked. “I’m thinking that those Earthbound military forces are in fact mercenaries employed by Keldor to stop your little space race.” The Mayor offered. “So they aren't the military? Who haven’t the actually military stepped in then?” I didn't sound so impressed. “Because the real military has bigger things to worry about, like keeping all of Earth’s fancy shiny paperweights scure.” The Mayor scoffed. “These damned warlords have you all fooled, even the Swat is blinded.” He added. “Then who the hell saved us from Auraxis” I snapped. “Ah, that’s when you're stubborn little mind comes into play, yes, the military did help you, but is was not Riptide who lead the extraction team. The real figurehead incharge, the Master Sargent is the head officer for the military here. Riptide fooled you with a fake name and badge to take advantage of you're army’s gullible state.” The Mayor smaller his hands on his desks. “Alright smartass, how we gonna get out of this then?” I stood up, hand of my revolver. I wasn't gonna let some puffed up dimomat push me into doing what he wants. “More like how are YOU gonna get you of this. You have no authority over me.” The Mayor spat. “Those mercenary… freelance fuckwits opened fire on me, killed my men and women, delayed my mission, and wants me dead… no you, or you're city, or you're people. I’d say New Haven is just a spectator.” I fought back. “Huh…” The Mayor started. “And don’t even think about standing idle, cause if these people really want me dead, they’ll stop at nothing to see it though. You're city is still at risk. What I’m saying is, we can work together on this, but do not get in my way, and don’t tell em how to do my job.” I cut him off. “Alright, alright, you made your point. And in that case, what do you have in mind?” The Mayor sat down. Now that the lines have been drawn, we can really get to business.
