"You okay?" My trance like stare over the plains were a large battle was just fought is broken when a certain dewott walks up beside me. "You've been staring out here for a while. Does it stir up some memories or...?" He trails off, leaving plenty of time for me to answer is question. I shake my head, my second maw swaying softly. "No." I look up at Dex, but he seems to be staring off into the distance as well. Could he be thinking about something important. No one gets that far away look for nothing. "What about you? Is there something on your mind?" "How many stacks could a spinarak stack if a spinarak could stack stacks?" His comment makes me feel like a conkeldurr smashed my skull in with a Hammer Arm attack. He laughs and pats me on the head. "Say, since you've got nowhere to go, would you care to stay with me? I mean, I can't just let wander around lost and stuff." He looks away and mutters softly. "Or, you know, join the Rebellion." The Rebellion. If I'm not mistaken, I infiltrated this town for information on them. If I were to join their ranks, I could easily earn his trust and gather info for that luxray, Fang. "Ugh." For some reason, thinking up this plan gives me a sudden sharp headache. Have I done something like this before? "Hey, are you okay?" I wave away his helpful paw as I grasp my forehead. "I'm fine!" I snap at him with a snarl. "It's just a small headache." I look at Dex from the corner of my eye. "Alright. If I join, what do you want me to do? Who are we even rebelling against anyway?" "The Council of Humanity." An unfamiliar voice butts into the conversation between me and the dewott. I look to the source of the voice and see a rather long snake and crimson eyes looking down at me. "I see you're finally awake." The serperior says with a small smile. "Yu at your service." He bows down to me, never taking his eyes off me the whole time. "Oh? So, are you like my own personal slave?" He seems shocked at first, by his sly smile easily returns. "I suppose I could be, if you want." "Don't start." Dex tugs at Yu's ear causing him to yelp from what sounds like a mixture between pain... and pleasure? "Yu, please behave yourself. We're trying to set a good example for the nameless mawile, and I'd rather you not scare them off." "You're such a stick in the mud sometimes." Yu sighs before clearing his throat and recomposing himself. "I'm no slave, at the moment, but rather I am just a waiter at a near by café. I'm no fighter, but I support the Rebellion by serving them drinks. Amongst other things." He adds with a wink. Out the corner of my eye, I can see Dex shaking his head in disappointment. "So, who are you?" "No clue." I say with a shrug. Although, that luxray from earlier called me... Lyn, I think. However, telling them might blow the cover I'm supposedly am supposed to have and if that feline is right, if they find out who I am, who ever it is I am, they would probably kill me on the spot. "Amnesia, huh?" The snake snickers. "Isn't that a little cliché?" I roll my eyes, but I can't argue with him. I thought the same thing. "Nevertheless, that would explain why you don't know about the Rebellion, or the Council of Humanity." He uses one of his vines to tap his chin. "I would tell you, but it might be more effective to show you what exactly it is they do and why we oppose them." "Seems you guys are going on a field trip." Dex says with a smirk. "It's a shame I can't come with. I have a meeting this evening, but I can't let you two go on your own. I've got just the pokemon to help you out." He heads toward the village gate and calls back, "Be back here by dusk, she'll be waiting for you then!" With that, he was gone, leaving me with Yu and his... uncomfortable gaze. "Thirsty?" "No." I head back into town, more interested in wandering than lingering around this masochistic grass noodle. Plus, this might be the chance I need to get some information about the layout of this village. Maybe there's a flaw in their defenses. A gap or opening. Am I even supposed to be looking for such a thing? What am I even supposed to be looking for? I stop my mini journey at what seems to be the center of town. It's a large fountain with plenty of pokemon of various sizes and types socializing, playing, and shopping. I sit against the fountain and give a small sigh. What am I doing? Why would I just follow what some random pokemon tells me to do? I suppose he's the only one who could tell me who I am. Then again, if I asked these guys about "Lyn" I might get some answers. And probably die. What a pain. I feel so... "Lost?" Another new voice. "Never seen you before." An absol stares at me with a blank expression. We stare at each other in silence for a moment while I try to read the expression on his face and I guess the absol is trying to remember if she knows who I am. "Yuri." "I don't remember." "Amnesia?" "Yup." "Cliché." "I know." I once again roll my eyes in agitation. Is everyone going to say this? "Look, I'm not lost. I know... relatively where I am, and I don't need your help. Okay?" She nods then sits near the fountain with me. "Don't you have anywhere else to be? I'd rather not be babysat right now. I'm an amnesiac, not helpless." "I've got time, and I'm not babysitting you. This is just the best place to watch other pokemon." She lays down and rests her head on her forepaws. "It's the heart of the town." We sit in a calm, relaxing silence as we watch pokemon come and go. For a moment, I think she's fallen asleep until she speaks once more. "They say that this fountain was a jirachi tag somewhere in its base. If you make a wish, it might come true. For a price, of course." "Of course." I add with a laugh. "Have you made a wish here?" "No, but I'd like to." I hop off the edge of the fountain and turn to face the water. "What?" "Let's make a wish." She seems caught off guard by my sudden command. "C'mon!" I look toward the setting sun then back at her. "I don't have all day." The absol stands to her feet than turns and faces the fountain with me. "Alright, now close your eyes and wish." "But-." "Just do it!" I see her shake her head, but she does as I said and closes her eyes, a hint of a smile on her muzzle. I close my eyes as well. Dear jirachi... I don't know what to wish for. I suppose I could wish for my memory back, but I'd rather earn what I want. I crack an eye open and look up at the still wishing absol. ... I wish Yuri can find happiness in her life. I sit there for a moment. Somewhat expecting for something to happen. I don't know what. Maybe like a deep voice rumbling out a "Your wish shall be granted!" or something. I guess I'll only know when I lose something in return. I just hope it's not my "life essence" or something weird like that. Once I'm done, I open my eyes and see that Yuri had just finished too. "What'd you wish for?" The moment I ask, a noticeable blush forms from under her fur. "If I told you, it might not come true!" She looks toward the sun and her eyes grow wide. "Shit! I have to go!" She politely nods toward me. "Nice to meet you, but I have to go!" She doesn't even wait for a reply before dashing through the town, masterfully weaving through the crowd. "I suppose I should go too." I head back toward the town entrance. Partway down, I run into my favorite snake once again. "Hey... Yu?" He's got a green scarf with a white stripe down the middle wrapped around his neck near where his crest forms and a satchel wrapped around his shoulder. He looks down at me then smiles. "Hey nameless mawile." He slithers down the street and I follow. "Make any new friends?" I shrug nonchalantly. "I doubt we could call each other friends, but I did have a nice time with an absol near the fountain." His smile grows wider, which quickly creeps me out. "What's with you?" "Did you make a wish together?" I nod cautiously, worried about what exactly he was getting at. "Fufufufu~ That fountain does have wish granting powers, but at a price. Wishes made alone can never be granted but wishes made with another mean that their destinies are tied forever! You two might have history with one another or are going to." "That sounds like taurus crap! I'm starting to think the whole fountain wishing thing is just some silly fairy tail for kids." As I round the corner to the village gate, I'm surprised to see a certain white coated canine waiting there. "Yuri?" Yu looks at her with a shocked expression. "Dex asked you to escort us?" She nods at him then her eyes fall on me and her eyes grow wide. "Holy shit." I hear her say under her breathe. She quickly stands then heads out the gate. "I fucked up so bad..." Yu gets over his initial shock then follows behind her. I take a bit longer however as I begin to wonder if maybe I shouldn't write off this fairy tale so soon.
