"Sonic... I need to tell you something." A young female human, named Lilly, smiled softly as she sat down on the couch near her position. She then gently patted the seat next to her and watched as a young male hedgehog, named Sonic, walked over and sat down with a curious expression on his face. "Hmm? What is it, mom?" Lilly bit her lip in a nervous manner before turning back to Sonic and leaning her hand against the arm of the couch. "Well um... I was doing a bit of research the other day and I discovered something that will interest you." Sonic leaned over towards Lilly and smirked a bit. "Oh? Is it something cool about hedgehogs... like me~?" Lilly giggled a bit as she shuffled closer to Sonic on the couch. She then gently took his hands into her own and looked up at him. "Not quite, sweetie. You see... I think I found... your parents." Sonic opened his eyes widely as he looked up at Lilly, a mixture of shock and excitement now present on his face. "M-my... p-parents?" Lilly nodded slowly as she nervously awaited Sonic's response. Sonic was frozen in place for a few seconds but soon snapped out of his trance, beaming widely. Lilly, who was unsure where this reaction was going, slowly reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder. "S-Sonic?" Lilly soon gasped as Sonic, without warning, jumped off the couch and happily wagged his tail as he began to make small noises of delight. "Are you serious?! I finally get to meet them?!" Lilly giggled a bit from Sonic's reaction and nodded. "Yes, I've been in contact with them and they said that they'll be visiting here at 10:30 tomorrow." Sonic continued to beam widely and jumped up and down before giving Lilly a hug and excitedly wagging his tail. "Thank you mom, you're amazing! I can't believe you found them..." Lilly smiled and gently returned the hug as she felt him nuzzling into her chest in a loving way. He then pulled away and smiled up at her as he pointed up the stairs. "I better get some sleep for tomorrow!" Lilly walked over to Sonic's position and smiled as he kissed her cheek before heading up the stairs. "Night, mom!" Lilly smiled and watched as Sonic ran up the stairs and headed for his bedroom. "Good night, sweetie..." -------------------- A few minutes later, Lilly sighed slightly as she walked up the stairs. She walked into Sonic's room and sat down on his bed, gently caressing his muzzle. Lilly smiled as she noticed that he was now fast asleep and purring as he slept. "I hope everything goes ok, but still... I don't want to give you up." Lilly smiled slightly as she noticed Sonic smiling in his sleep and looking so innocent as he slept. Lilly leaned over to Sonic and placed a gentle kiss on his muzzle before standing up from the bed and walking over to the door. "Sleep well, my angel..." ------------------- The next morning, Sonic yawned and rubbed his eyes as he awoke from his slumber. He jumped out of his bed and checked his bedside clock before gulping nervously. "Yikes, it's almost 10:30! I better hurry and get ready!" As Sonic jumped out of bed, he quickly ran to the bathroom to do his business and brushed his teeth as well as cleaning his face with a cloth and some soap. He then ran downstairs and into the kitchen, where Lilly was currently sipping on a cup of tea. She smiled as she looked up at Sonic and watched as he pulled out a seat from the kitchen table and sat in it. "Good morning, sweetie. Did you have a good sleep last night?" Sonic smiled a bit as he picked up a piece of toast that was on the table and began to munch on it. "Yeah, it was okay..." Lilly noticed that Sonic was making a somewhat nervous expression and tilted her head to the side. "Something wrong, sweetie?" Sonic sighed a bit as he placed the piece of toast back onto his plate. "Sort of... it just hit me last night that I'm finally gonna meet my parents. I was excited but now I just feel pretty nervous..." Lilly smiled softly and gently placed a hand on his shoulder. "I understand, sweetie... but don't worry, I'm sure it will be okay." Sonic nodded his head and sighed slightly. Before he could respond, however, a loud knock echoed throughout the kitchen. Sonic felt his ear twitch from the sound and ran to the door, reaching his hand out to grab the handle but his hand suddenly stopped and he froze in place. "W-what's going on?" Lilly followed behind and noticed that Sonic's hand was shaking slightly as it was close to the door handle. She stood beside him and gently took his hand into her own, smiling softly. "Don't worry, sweetie... I'm here." Sonic smiled nervously at Lilly as he slowly reached his hand out again, this time making sure that it was gripping the handle. He turned back to Lilly and let out a small sigh before turning the handle and watching as the door opened. --------------------- As the door opened, two blue-furred hedgehog mobians looked up at Sonic with their eyes wide open and shocked expressions present upon their faces. The female had pale blue fur, brown eyes and long blonde hair and the male had dark blue fur, short brown bangs and blue eyes. The female hedgehog, who still had a look of shock upon her face, slowly took a step forward as she looked into Sonic's eyes and reached a hand out to touch his muzzle. "Sonic...? Is that... really you?" Sonic smiled softly and purred slightly as the female touched his muzzle in a tender way. "Y-yes, it's me. Are... are you... my mother?" The female hedgehog smiled softly as she slowly nodded her head and soon looked behind her as the male smiled and gently placed his hands upon the female's shoulders. "And I'm your father..." Sonic smiled up at the male and wagged his tail slightly, finally coming face to face with his natural parents. The female gently nuzzled her nose against Sonic's, in a loving way, as she gently brings him into a cuddle. Tears began to form in the female's eyes as she felt Sonic wrapping his arms around her. "We've been looking for you for so long, sweetheart..." Sonic gritted his teeth and tried his best not to cry from the situation but he soon gave up and let out a small sniffling sound as he buried his head into his mother's shoulder. "M-me too... I can't believe you're both here." The male hedgehog smiled as he gently patted Sonic's shoulder in an attempt to comfort him and soon joined in with the hug, looking up at Lilly as he noticed her at the doorway. "We can't thank you enough for taking care of our boy for all these years..." Lilly smiled and bowed her head slightly. "It's been an amazing experience... and he's been a really good boy for all this time." The male chuckled slightly. "That's good to hear... though I imagine he may have got into a bit of trouble, especially during his childhood days?" Lilly giggled a bit as she stepped forward and ruffled Sonic's quills a bit, causing him to chuckle. "Well, he did have a few cheeky moments as a toddler but he's been very good overall and he's been Station Square's hero since he was 4..." Sonic blushed a bit from the compliment and rubbed his nose with his finger. "M-mom... you're flattering me too much." Lilly and the female hedgehog giggled and watched as the male ruffled Sonic's quills. "Ah, a hero just like us... I had a feeling he would be!" ------------------- After a long chat with the young male and female, Lilly smiled curiously as they looked as though they were ready to leave. She watched as they shared another cuddle with Sonic and soon spoke up. "Did you both want to come in for a drink at all?" The young male smiled as he ruffled Sonic's quills and held a hand up. "No, thank you. We better get back home..." The female nodded and smiled as she placed a hand on the male's shoulder and looked over to Sonic. "Actually... we were also going to ask you to come with us, sweetheart. We have a lot to catch up on after all..." Sonic lowered his ears slightly as he looked back at Lilly, who was stood behind him. He then pointed at her before looking back at his parents. "B-but... she's my..." The male and female mobians lowered their ears and looked at each other before looking back to Sonic. "We understand that you've been with your mother for a long time... but we thought you would want to come with us." Sonic looked back at Lilly once again and soon walked over to her, a worried expression now present upon his face. "M-Mom... what should I do?" Lilly made a sympathetic expression as she gently placed her hands on Sonic's shoulders as the male and female mobians watched, poised for an answer. "It's your choice, sweetheart... but well, we've been searching for many years and you did say that you wanted to live with them once we found them..." Sonic closed his eyes and sighed, sadly. "I know... but still... I'll really miss you if I go with them." Lilly sighed softly as she gently caressed his muzzle with her hand. "I'll miss you too, sweetie... but no matter what happens, you'll always be my baby boy." Sonic looked up at Lilly and stood on the tip of his toes, rubbing his nose gently against hers. Lilly knew that Sonic's nose rub was a sign of affection, often used between mobian hedgehogs and so returned the action. Sonic soon moved his head away from Lilly's and she placed a gentle kiss onto the top of his head before pulling him into a tender cuddle. She sniffled a bit as she spoke, feeling a few tears drip down her cheek. "I-I'll miss you, sweetie. You be careful out there, okay?" She then pulled away and placed her hands onto his shoulders once again as she watched a small pool of tears begin to appear in Sonic's eyes. "I'll miss you, too Mom but don't worry, I'll be fine... I promise." Sonic lowered his ears as Lilly released her grip from him and walked over to his parents. The male and female hedgehogs smile softly and wrap their arms around him as they turn to Lilly. "Thank you again for taking care of our boy... we're very grateful." Lilly wiped a few tears away from her eyes and managed a small smile as she nodded. "I-It was no trouble..." The male and female both smile and wave as they begin to walk back along the path Sonic, reluctantly, walking beside them. He waved at Lilly as he walked further away and lowered his ears once again. "Goodbye, mom... thanks for everything." Lilly sniffled as she watched Sonic walk away and waved slowly, feeling overrun with emotions. She was happy that her boy had finally found his parents but upset because she had lost her only son. Lilly was about to turn around and walk back into her home but she soon noticed a bit of trouble occuring up ahead. "M-mom? D-dad? Are you okay?" Lilly overheard Sonic's concerned tone and soon ran over to see what was wrong. "Honey? What's wrong?" Sonic looked up at Lilly and lowered his ears a bit as he pointed to the male and female mobians. "Mom and dad, they're acting really weird..." Lilly looked over to the mobians and noticed that they seemed to be standing still. She walked over and waved her hand over their eyes but they didn't blink. Lilly made a curious expression as she looked over at Sonic and shrugged a bit, unsure about what to do. ---------------------- After a short while, Sonic and Lilly both noticed small sparks coming from the male and female mobians and soon after, a small explosion occurred, causing Sonic and Lilly to both step back and watch in horror as a small amount of smoke appeared. "What the...?!" "What the heck just happened?!" Once the smoke had disappeared, Sonic and Lilly cautiously walked over to the smoke's origin and soon notice a collection of small robotic parts, scattered across the ground. Lilly kneeled down and picked up a small pile of bolts, looking down at them curiously. "They were... robots?" Sonic, who had also noticed the robotic parts, made a shocked expression as he noticed a small recording device near the explosion's origin. He curiously picked it up and soon a small voice emitted from it. "Muhahaha! If you are listening to this message, rodent... it means that my plan to fool you has worked!" Lilly whispered to Sonic as she overheard the message also. "Plan? That sounds like Dr Eggman!" "My plan was to design these specially unique robots that resemble yourself in order to make you think that they are your parents!" Sonic continued to listen to the recording, feeling his fists tense up, tightly, as the insults continued. "Seems like you'll never find your parents, rodent!" Muhahaha!" After the message played, Sonic growled and pounded his fist into the device, smashing it to pieces. He then lowered his head and placed his hands onto the ground in a defeated manner. Lilly gently spoke as she reached out her hand. "S-Sonic?" Sonic growled once again and lowered his ears as he pounded his fists into the ground, feeling extremely angry from Eggman's taunts. "You've really done it now..." Lilly made a sympathetic expression as she reached her hand out, gently placing it onto his shoulder. She spoke softly as Sonic flinched a bit from her touch. "Sonic?" After a short moment of silence, Sonic began to stand up and rubbed his eyes with his hand before running off into the forested area. Lilly reached her hand out, worriedly as she watched Sonic run off. "Wait, sweetie!" Lilly sighed softly and made a sympathetic expression as she walked along the path leading further into the forested area. --------------------- After walking for a few minutes, she heard a crying sound and walked over to a tree nearby. She peeked her head behind it and noticed Sonic curled up on the ground. He was crying softly and banging his fist on the ground in an angry manner. Lilly gasped from how Sonic was acting and kneeled down beside him, gently placing her hand on his shoulder. Sonic jerked slightly and looked up at Lilly with tear-filled eyes and his ears were lowered against his head. "I-It's all my fault... I-I shouldn't have been so excited." Lilly gently rubbed his shoulder and soon pulled him into a gently embrace before kissing his forehead. "It's not your fault, sweetheart... you had every right to be excited. But things just sometimes don't go to plan..." Sonic sniffled and held onto Lilly as she held him close to her chest. "I d-didn't think Eggman would do something so cruel..." Lilly gently rubbed his back as he held onto her. "I didn't either, sweetheart... clearly his cruelty knows no bounds." "Y-yeah..." Sonic sniffled and began to hiccup as he held onto Lilly, allowing his tears to pour down her shoulder. Lilly kissed his forehead and gently rubbed his back, attempting to calm him down. "Shh, it'll be okay, sweetie..." After a few minutes, Sonic began to calm down after feeling comforted and rubbed his eyes with his hand, attempting to get rid of his tears. "M-Mom?" Lilly looked down at Sonic and smiled softly as she caresses his head. "Yes, honey?" Sonic smiled a bit as he wagged his tail, still sniffling a bit. "Can you promise me something?" Lilly ran her finger through Sonic's quills as she smiled down at him. "Of course, sweetie." Sonic nuzzled his head into Lilly's shoulder as he looked up at her. "Promise me that you'll always be my mom..." Lilly smiled and placed another kiss upon his forehead. "Of course I will, sweetie. No matter what..." Sonic smiled and wagged his tail. "Thanks, mom... c-can we go back home, please?" Lilly smiled and nodded as she stood up and helped Sonic up to his feet before gently wrapping an arm around his shoulder. "Yes we can, sweetie. How about I make you some chili dogs too?" Sonic smiled and wiggled his ears happily. "Yes, please~!" Lilly giggled and walked back along the path, leading back to her and Sonic's house. She turned to Sonic and quickly turned his head away as they pass the remnants of the robotic mobians, not wanting to cause him more distress. Sonic purred softly as he nuzzled his head into Lilly's shoulder and felt much happier, knowing that Lilly would always be there for him. "I love you, mom..." "I love you too, sweetheart."
