A 'munk, a skunk and an Adventure Playground One day, a two-year old skunk named Ozzie and a two-and-a-half-year old chipmunk named Tavi were playing together at a huge, indoor adventure playground. "I love being wittle" said Ozzie to Tavi, who giggled and nodded. "This is lots of fun" agreed Tavi, "Look at this place! It's huge!" Just then, a five-year old red fox sat next to them. He looked worried. "Have you seen Timothy?" he asked "Who's Timothy?" asked Ozzie "He's my three-year old raccoon friend, I can't find him!" "Don't worry, we'll help you find him" said Tavi, smiling at the older fox cub. "What's your name?" "My name's Harry, but everyone calls me 'Friendly'" answered the fox. "I'm Ozzie, and this is Tavi" said Ozzie And so the three cubs went off to find Timothy. They searched everywhere they could think of. Friendly looked in the ball-pond, while Tavi looked in the various structures throughout the playground. Ozzie found a giant, dark red slide - like a sloped tunnel. Ozzie looked up the slide and saw something. "I think I've found him!" cried Ozzie, "Friendly! Tavi!" Friendly and Tavi came over to the slide as fast as they could. They both looked up the slide with Ozzie. "That's Timothy all right" said Friendly "What's wrong?" asked Ozzie, "Why isn't he coming down the slide?" All three of the friends looked up the slide again. Timothy was about half-way up, and he didn't appear to be moving very much. "One of us should climb up the slide" proposed Ozzie "I will. I'm the smallest, and I'm a very good climber!" replied Tavi, with a hint of self-pride. With a short rubbing of his paws, he clambered his way up the long, dark slide. Before long, Tavi was next to Timothy. He noticed that the raccoon was sniffling. "What's wrong?" asked Tavi "I'm stuck" groaned Timothy, "I can't climb out!" "Why don't you slide down?" asked Tavi "I can't! I'm frightened" whimpered Timothy, trembling slightly "Tell me what happened" said Tavi So Timothy told the chipmunk what had happened. "I saw some older cubs playing around with the slide and they appeared to be having fun. I followed them and climbed up the steps to the top of the slide. I began to slide down, but I got frightened and so I stopped, but I can't get back up to the top" Timothy began to sniffle again. "Why can't you get back to the top?" asked Tavi Timothy moved his legs, but his back feet kept slipping on the slide and he couldn't move. Tavi watched Timothy's feet spinning helplessly and pondered over the problem - why couldn't Timothy's paws grip the slide? Timothy stopped struggling and continued sniffling. Tavi looked closer at Timothy's feet, and he suddenly realized what was wrong. "Its' your socks!" cried Tavi, "You can't grip the slide when you're wearing socks" "Well, what should I do?" asked Timothy "Take your socks off. Then you should be able to climb out!" squeaked Tavi "But I'll fall if I take my hands off the slide!" cried Timothy "I'll help you" said Tavi, as he slid down a bit and stood behind Timothy's feet. Timothy held one of his footpaws up at a time while Tavi helped the raccoon to remove his socks. Tavi then dropped each of the socks down the slide to Ozzie and Friendly. "There, try climbing now!" said Tavi Timothy tried moving his feet, and he was slowly climbing upwards! Tavi clambered up a little ways behind him. The slide was dark, and Tavi could hear his diaper crinkling noisily as he made his way up behind Timothy, he listened for other noises. He heard another muffled crinkling noise, and a louder rustling noise. Tavi was puzzled - what was making that loud rustling sound? Before long both the raccoon and the chipmunk had reached the top. As they emerged from the slide, Tavi found out what was causing the rustling noise - it was Timothy's shorts! And the muffled crinkling was Timothy's diaper, which was peeking out of the top his shorts. "Thank you!" squeaked Timothy, hugging the chipmunk tightly Ozzie and Friendly arrived at the top of the slide. "Help!" coughed Tavi "Come on Tim" said Friendly, pulling the raccoon off of Tavi. "Thanks" said Tavi, looking a little disgruntled. The four friends made their way down the steps together. "What shall we play now?" asked Friendly "Hide and seek?" suggested Ozzie "That's a good idea, what do you think Timothy?" Friendly, Ozzie and Tavi looked at the raccoon. Timothy suddenly looked very flustered. "Oh no!" cried Timothy, as a tear fell down his cheek. "What's wrong?" asked Ozzie and Tavi "I'm... I've... I need a change!" cried Timothy "Come on, let's change your diaper" said Friendly, "We'll be right back, guys" Ozzie suddenly blushed sheepishly. "You needs a change too, don't you?" grinned Tavi "Yesh" mumbled Ozzie "Come on, let's go" said Tavi, holding Ozzie's hand and taking him out of the playground. --End of Chapter 1--
