"Isn't it beautiful, Espio?"

A young purple-scaled chameleon smiles and sighs softly as he looks down at his younger mate, who was sweating a bit after only just giving birth. The young male then turns his attention to a burgandy-coloured egg that was beside him. His tail was wrapped around it as well as being surrounded by blankets.

"Yes, it is. I cannot wait until it hatches..."

A young purple hedgehog, who was named Kira, smiles as she was kneeling down beside the chameleons and gently caressing the egg, making sure that it was warm. The young female chameleon, named Hanae, pants a bit as she looks up at Kira.

"W-we can't thank you enough for helping us out, Kira..."

The young male, named Espio, nods and smiles as he looks over to Kira, holding Hanae's hands into his own.

"We owe you our gratitude." 

"Aw, it wasn't a problem, guys. I have helped a lot of mothers with births in the past but I must said that egg-birthing was a new experience. I did have a bit of experience when Maia was going into labour though..."

The two chameleons look to each other and smile before rubbing their horns together. Kira smiles from the display before looking down at her wrist watch.

"As requested by you two, Sonic and Knuckles will be here soon... along with a few others."

Espio and Hanae give each other confused expressions from hearing 'a few others' but both look back to Kira before looking down at their egg. Espio looks up to Kira as he uses his tail to pull the egg closer to him and Hanae.

"Forgive me for asking, Kira, but do you know when the egg will hatch?"

Kira smiles as she gently places a hand on the egg and rubs it.

"It's ok... I read the other day that chameleon eggs can hatch anytime between 1 to 4 days after birth so it could possibly happen today..."

"That would be so exciting!"

Espio chuckles softly but soon looks down at the egg as he notices it beginning to move. He gasps a bit and points down to it. Hanae and Kira look down at the egg and back to Espio.

"What is it, Espio?"

"I am certain that the egg moved just then..."

"Really?"

Espio nods as Hanae wags her tail and gently rubs the egg with her hand.

"That means... it could be hatching!"

Espio gasps and points down as the egg begins to move around within his tail. Hanae looks down too and watches excitedly as the egg continues to move.

At that same moment, the two chameleons look up as they see Sonic and Knuckles walking towards them with two other mobians following behind. Espio makes a shocked expression as he notices the figures walking behind.

"M-Mighty? R-Ray? Where did you two come from?"

Mighty crosses his arms and closes his eyes, a smirk on his face.

"Knuckles found us and told us the news. I never thought you would be the type to have children, Espio... no offence."

Espio makes a small grunt of annoyance before looking back to the egg.

"None taken..."

Ray rolls his eyes a bit and soon excitedly watches as the egg begins to hatch.

"Never mind about that, guys... look, the egg's hatching!"

Mighty soon looks over and continues to smirk as he kneels down beside Sonic and Knuckles. Sonic wags his tail and looks over to Knuckles.

"This is somewhat a déjà vu, eh Knux?"

Knuckles chuckles a bit and nods as he watches the egg with the other mobians. 

After a few seconds, the egg wobbles and pieces of shell begin to crack, eventually revealing two baby chameleons. The two babies squeak and gently land onto their chests, making small squeaking sounds.

"Wow... would you look at that?"

"Twins?"

Sonic moves closer to Kira and smiles down at the babies as he whispers to her. 

"Even though I wasn't there for the birth of the egg, I'm willing to bet that you did really well, Kira..."

Kira blushes a little as she looks away.

"T-thanks..."

The baby chameleons continue to squeak as Sonic, Knuckles, Kira, Mighty and Ray all look down to the ground. Espio smiles down at the babies and kneels down beside them, gently wrapping his arms around them.

"Our little ninjas..."

Suddenly, one of the little chameleons begins to cry and kicks its feet. Espio moves closer to the baby and gently rubs the edge of his horn against the baby's forehead.

"It's alright... papa is here."

The baby soon begins to calm down and reaches its hand up, gently grabbing Espio's horn with it. Espio chuckles softly and looks down at the other baby, who was wriggling around. The young male gently rubs the edge of his horn against the other child's forehead before kissing them both.

Hanae smiles and sniffs a bit as she looks at the little newborns. 

"Oh, Espio... they're beautiful."

The young male smiles and nods before gently picking up the babies, holding them in his arms. The babies squeal and soon make little cooing sounds as Espio hands them to Hanae. The young female sniffs again and feels a couple of tears trickle down her cheek as she looks down at the newborns.

"Hello, little angels..."

The babies squeal in response and Hanae giggles a bit. She then looks up at Sonic, Kira and Knuckles, who were kneeling down beside her. She smiles up at them and watches as Sonic gently runs his finger against the babies' cheeks. 

"Aw... they're so cute!"

Kira giggles and Knuckles chuckles a bit from the display. 

"They sure are!"

"Yes..."

Mighty, who was stood up next to Espio, smirks as he looks down at the newborns. He then kneels down and gently runs his hand across their muzzles.

"They look a lot like you both..."

Hanae gently kisses the newborns' foreheads before looking up at Mighty.

"Indeed, they do..."

Ray moves closer and wags his tail as he looks down at the newborns.

"I've never seen a newborn before, let alone two!"

Mighty chuckles from the comment and sits down beside Espio, looking at the newborns over his shoulder. Hanae kisses the newborns' heads before looking up at Kira.

"Kira? Since you helped us through this ordeal, I believe you should have the honour of holding one of them first..."

Kira smiles as she holds her arms out.

"I would love to..."

Espio gently lifts one of the newborns and lays it into Kira's arms. The newborn coos and wriggles around a bit. Kira giggles and looks down at the little chameleon as it wraps its tiny fingers around Kira's finger. 

"Aww... hello, little one~"

Sonic, who was anxious to hold one of the babies, holds out his arms and makes a slightly guilty expression.

"Is it ok if I can hold the other?"

Hanae smiles and looks up at Espio as he wraps the other newborn in a blanket. He then nods and gently hands the other baby to Sonic. The blue blur wags his tail as he looks down at the little baby. The baby squeaks and nuzzles into Sonic's chest, attempting to keep warm. Espio gently places a blanket over the newborn before turning back to Hanae.

Hanae smiles as she whispers to Espio.

"Espio? I think we should see what genders the babies are..."

The young chameleon smiles and nods as he looks down at the newborn in Sonic's arms. He moves the blanket aside and takes a closer look at the newborn's lower region. The newborn wriggles around a bit but Espio is soon able to identify the gender.

"I believe Sonic is holding a little girl..."

Mighty smiles down at the little newborn as he turns to Hanae.

"Aww... well I must say that I had a feeling, especially since she's as pretty as Hanae~"

Hanae giggles a bit from the comment and Espio makes a pouting expression.

"Hanae is my beloved, Mighty... not yours."

Mighty smirks a bit.

"I know, I was merely telling the truth~"

Espio groans a bit but soon walks over to Kira. He looks down at the infant and smiles up at Hanae. 

"And I believe this one is a boy..."

Kira smiles down at the little infant.

"Well, he does look a lot like you, Espio..."

Espio smiles and wags his tail, proudly as he admires the little chameleons. 

"That is true."

Sonic looks down at the little female in his arms and gently passes her to Mighty, who was sat beside him. Mighty chuckles as the little female begins to kick her legs a bit.

"Little fighter, this one..."

Espio chuckles from the comment and soon takes the little boy from Kira as she hands him back to Espio. Espio walks over to Knuckles and hands the boy to him, watching as the little chameleon holds onto Knuckles' glove. Knuckles chuckles a bit as he looks up at Espio.  

"I think its great that you two have done this... me and Maia were so happy when our little ones came out of their eggs."

Espio smiles and nods as he gently nuzzles his horn against the little boy's. 

"Thank you, Knuckles."

"I think Vector's gonna be really happy when he sees them too..."

"Indeed."

Hanae sighs happily as she looks over to Espio. She then whispers into his ear.

"Espio? What do you think we should call them?"

Espio smiles as he gently pets the little boy's head.

"I have always liked the name Jun for a boy..."

Hanae smiles as she looks down at the little girl.

"I think it's a perfect name..."

"What shall we call our little girl?"

"Hmm, how about... Isabelle?"

"A beautiful name for a beautiful daughter."
