2BIT is a sky blue fox from a special pocket dimension. This realm, known as Byte Space, has a strange, digitized look to it, but it is more of a cosmic place where the denizens monitor and manage the destinies of various other dimensions within the multiverse. They are largely offshoots of other "prime" universes that fall out of Byte Space's jurisdiction, but that doesn't make the job any less demanding. So, in order to manage, 2BIT split his own psyche into several other beings, able to help him carry out his duties in several places at once. They form up a team known as "BIT Squad."

Today we find 2BIT out not on urgent business, but rather hoping to celebrate. Ten years prior, the dimension of GeneX Prime was born, and 2BIT began his work, watching and guiding this world, and soon many others, from his sanctuary in Byte Space. The dimension was actually created with a history already behind it, but 2BIT took great pride in the 10 years of existance he played a part in shaping. He hoped to celebrate with some of the denizens of this world that he'd come to view as his pseudo family, but there was one catch: they didn't know him. He's come down to this world before, but always wiped the memories of his visits in the end...He had his reasons. However, this quickly became an issue when he walked into the Neon Tavern to have some celebratory drinks, and was quickly carded and tossed out, due to not actually having any ID. "I never knew those barkeeps were so unkind... I wasn't gonna get booze anyway, last time a BIT did that it broke time." he muttered, dusting himself off. A familiar face, Kosmo the Morph, was passing by, and chuckled at him. "Kid, if you didn't expect to get tossed out, you're dumber than you look!" the purple-furred morph laughed. 2BIT turned to say something, but thought better of it. "I didn't come to start a fight, I'm here to celebrate... Hm, maybe I can pass as a long-lost relative of Tails..." he mumbled, hurrying out of sight before flicking his wrists to open a wormhole, giving him a shortcut to the Mystic Ruins.

Heading up the steps towards Tails' Workshop, he was quickly accosted by SPOT, the robotic dog. "Intruder! Intruder!!" SPOT's mechanical voice blared, to which 2BIT frowned. "Since when are you a security drone?" he asked. Text popped up on SPOT's monitor in response. "State your purpose, or be disintegrated!" 2BIT stepped back nervously. "You're glitched up, right? I mean, do you do this to the Girl Scouts, too??" he stammered. "Insufficient reply. Entering offensive mode!" SPOT's monitor stated before a large laser cannon appeared from the hatch on its back! 2BIT quickly materialized his helmet and jetpack onto himself, taking off just as lasers started zooming in his direction! "Down!! Sit!! Bad dog!!" he yelled, flying in a panicked fashion as SPOT chased him! The noise drew Tails from his workshop, and he yelped in alarm. "Hey! What's going on out here!! Stop it, SPOT!!" he shouted, rushing back inside to grab for a remote, which he used to override SPOT's programming. "...Offensive mode disengaged..." SPOT stopped suddenly, but 2BIT was already pretty well out of control, and crash landed on his head with a THUD! "That...helmet... smartest thing...I ever...thought up..." he mumbled as he splayed onto his back, panting. Tails rushed over, looking concerned. "I guess my security protocols need some work... Um, are you okay? I'm so sorry!" he said, offering a hand to help 2BIT up. The blue fox shook his head and cracked his back, groaning softly. "Forget you saw me... I'll just be going... Far away from SPOT!" he grumbled, firing up his jetpack and flying off. Tails watched him go, scratching his head. "Hey, how'd he know your name, SPOT??" he mumbled.

2BIT tried a couple more places, but it was useless. No one knew who he was. Finally he decided to just relax on the beach of the island of Darkegg Fortress, watching the sunset until he was ready to return to Byte Space. Copter the fox, along with echidnas Punchy & Rainbow, soon noticed him and approached, a suspicious look on Copter's grumpy face. "Hey, what're you doing here?? Don't you know this is an Eggman base? Why... you could get turned into a robot or something!" he growled. Punchy shrugged. "Nah, that won't scare him. Hey, pal, this is OUR hideout! Beat it, or I'll beat you!!" the green echidna warned. 2BIT glanced up at them from the lounge chair he was sitting in, while Rainbow scolded Punchy. "Be nice! He's not bothering us, One!" she said, "Hey, what's your name?" she asked. 2BIT shrugged. "It's no use. You won't remember me anyway..." he sighed. Just then, a certain fennec emerged from the nearby tower. "2BIT??" she said, surprise in her voice. 2BIT stumbled in his chair and turned to see Gemini the fennec approaching, looking at him curiously. "Huh? You know this clown?" Copter asked. Gemini shrugged. "Why don't you leave us alone, Copter. I'll handle this..." she said with a light smile. Once they were alone, Gemini sat in the sand beside 2BIT's chair, watching the sunset with him. He wore a contented smile. She was the only one he'd allowed to remember him. It was against the rules...but she was his favorite. "I've watched this world for 10 years straight... Though my vision has extended to times beyond the linear progression..." he said, smiling. Gemini nodded. "I'd say you've done a good job, but there sure have been no shortage of disasters..." she chuckled awkwardly. "It's not my place to prevent all tragedy... Only to offer a little guiding hand when needed." 2BIT sighed. Gemini stood up, smiling. "Well, keep doing your best..." she said, leaning down and lightly kissing his forehead, "Think of that as encouragement, hehe. Happy Anniversary, 2BIT!" she said, skipping off cheerfully. 2BIT was sitting straight, his face scarlet, a hand rising to touch the spot where she'd kissed him. As he let out a happy sigh, Gator appeared next to him with a burst of smoke! "Hey! They want you back at Byte Space ya lazy blue goon! Chop-chop! Oooh, my old pirate crew's on this island!" he said before rushing off to annoy Copter and the others. 2BIT rolled his eyes and sighed. "Maybe after 20 years I can enjoy myself..."
