Linders Explained:
Many thousands of years ago the early northern tribes of Europe, which would later become the vikings, used to fight wearing armor and carrying shields made from heather branches tightly bound together with willow branches. This armor proved remarkably effective against the early bronze weapons and vikings continued to use it even up against the later iron and steel weapons, though replaced the wicker shields with wood to defend against arrows and used metal helmets and greaves to cover the parts of the body that were exposed when carrying the shield for extra protection. The ancient tribes went by many names but they were predominantly female dominated societies known as Linders, Linda, Links, Linkers, Lings or Lingers, which all literally translate as "stick women". You may know them better by their later name the Wicca or Witches. When the Mongolians reached Thailand in their conquest of Asia they came across tribes of Linders that had settled there and the Taj (pronounced Thai) fighting style of the Mongolians became combined with the Mooway (pronounced Muay) fighting style of the Linders to form Muay Thai. The original Mooway style of the Linders consisted of many odd moves such as shin kicking, high kicks, back-hands, hammerfist strikes, elbow strikes, knee strikes, weapon counters using the forearms and most importantly throws since the Linders fought unarmed. Linders tended to live alongside the rivers because it was a good source of fresh drinkable water however that meant that they came up against many other tribes with the same idea and fights over territory were quite common. Some cultures like the Japanese for example depicted the Linders as turtles due to the round shield they carried on their backs. Since the Linders killed anyone who came near the rivers and they had a habit of dumping the bodies in the river due to their religious beliefs at the time, many people believed that the Linders drowned their victims and the stories became confused with river dragon legends. Some Linders covered their armor and shields with mud from the river banks and decorated themselves with local plants which also acted like camouflage. These were known as Earthlings, which is where the origins of the term aliens are supposed to refer to us as came from. In fantasy games Dwarves are sometimes refered to as Halflings, this is because Dwarves in viking culture were actually very tall, the vikings called their people of short stature Halflings, literally "half persons". When the Egyptians encountered the Linders living alongside the Nile river they turned them into a mythological creature that was part man, part bog-dwelling plant. The stories of people going missing near the river and these people covered in mud and plant material lead them to believe that the Linders were people who had died in the river, become buried, had a med-dwelling plant grown on the surface and the roots had gone into the corpse causing the dead man to rise up in anger about the fact they had not been buried correctly and seek vengeance on anyone who came near the river. The solution as the Egyptians saw it was to get cows to graze on the mud-dwelling plants by the rivers to prevent the wrath of the dead. This is why the Harpy or "Apis Bull" as we now call it is seen as a holy being in Egyptian culture.
