So I got to the second story in my 100 Themes challenge...and it only took me almost three months to finish it. As I have said on the submission's comments, I started it on April 28, 2016 and finished it on July 16, and all I have to blame for this is my habit of working on it whenever I felt the urge to. At least I got it done, so thank heavens for that. Anyway, the fic. Why is it based more on Animal Crossing: City Folk than New Leaf? It's because the Villager you see in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U is the same one from Wild World and City Folk. It's also because I have a reasonable familiarity with the latter game, even if it's Wild World with new features. Of course, something convinced me to think up my own names for the eight Villagers. In order of appearance: Nigel, Mandy, W.Z., Samantha, Oersted, A Creep, Clover, Straybow. The one this fic focuses on the most is the girl wearing a turnip dress, whom I call Samantha. You're probably curious about why I situated pretty much every game of Animal Crossing on the back of a Delaware-sized sea turtle. There's only one reason for this, and it's because I think it's cool. There's also, when you think about it real closely, all of the towns have to be situated on the edges of the sea turtle's shell. Specifically, the edges that are surrounded by ocean. Why the town's name is Akrillic is because, when I had replayed this game from February 27, 2016 to about a week later at March 5, I didn't feel the urge to think up some other name for this town that wasn't "Main St.", which I had already done when I played City Folk back in 2008, so I stuck with the name of one region from Plok!, an obscure SNES platformer. I tried playing a bit of that, but the bosses were WAY too hard even though I tried as hard as possible not to cheat. I did abuse rewinding, though. Anyway, back to the fic. Why did I choose these six villagers? Here's a list explaining why: - Jeremiah, Patty, Marina: I started with the first two villagers when I replayed City Folk. A few days later, surprisingly, Marina moved in. She's one of the two octopus villagers in City Folk (the other one being Octavian), so talk about having crazy luck! - Cyrano: I had him in my town when I used to play City Folk. I could've chosen Del the alligator instead due to the same reasons why I chose Jay as one of the residents in this fic's Akrillic, even though Del is one of a scant few cranky villagers I like due to being BFFs with him in New Leaf. Instead, I decided on Cyrano because of nostalgia. - Jay: He's my all-time favorite jock villager (and, sadly, the only one) 'cuz I had him in my game of New Leaf. At least he's appeared in every game in the series, so he got to stay along for this ride. - Whitney: A multitude of furry artists like the snooty villagers, and Whitney is no exception. I initially decided on having Ankha live here instead, but I wasn't particularly interested in her that much during this fic's writing. Oh, and I've never had either of the two villagers I've mentioned here before. Yes, the first song Samantha--or, shall I say, I--got was indeed Neapolitan when I replayed this for a little while early into 2016. I like having real life write the plot in my fics for some reason, so it didn't really hurt having her get Neapolitan here as well. After Samantha gets up at 6:00 AM on February 28, 2016, she heads to the bus stop and waits. I'm not sure why I had chosen Whitney to meet the Villager; the snooty wolf probably wouldn't be awake at 6:00 AM in City Folk. I could've chosen Jay instead, since HE would've been awake at this time, but...eh. Samantha then does things to pass the time, then heads south of the museum after donating a few things. She notices an empty lot reserved for the house of Poppy. If only this fic didn't end so abruptly, then I could've done more with the squirrel moving to Akrillic. Samantha then meets Joan, but isn't interested in what the boar has. Did you know that she sold red turnips in City Folk, too? I bet they were just radishes under a different name. After Samantha takes a nap until 10:00 AM, I introduce three more of the Villagers riding on a bus on its way to Akrillic. Unfortunately, only Clover's getting all of the screentime here, since he IS Samantha's little brother. Nigel and A Creep will both get a little attention later on. And speaking of Clover...while he may be Samantha's little brother, he's better than she is because his mindset is literally that of an Animal Crossing: City Folk speedrunner. No, I'm not making this up--just go on speedrun.com and watch someone speedrun this game. You'll see the similarities between him and any AC:CF speedrunner appear very quickly. Another reason why Clover is better than his big sister? He's my Villager amiibo for use with Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, and he's already level 50. You don't wanna mess with him is what I'm saying. And yes, he and Samantha are fully aware of a variety of annoying mechanics, especially the one where your hair gets messed up after leaving the game alone for about a week. They could also be aware of grass deterioration, but the town didn't last long enough for them to see what would happen to its grass. During the duo's argument, they and the entire town get warped into Main Street. This is an oddly-named metropolis that I had dreamed of back in the summer of 2006. I don't know how it came to me; I mean, it WAS a dream. Why are Tom Nook and Sable Able holding hands? Apparently, the two make a great couple. In Happy Home Designer, I recall Sable saying that Tom Nook has a great singing voice. With all this being said, I end the story with a self-insert of yours truly (don't ask) observing his creation. Thank goodness I'm done talking about this; it took me a little too long to write these notes for some reason.
